From Latrun to Jerusalem. Educational trip for new immigrants

Our team continues the tradition of educational trips for new immigrants around Israel.  We would like to express our gratitude to the Messianic Center “Beit Sar Shalom” in Jerusalem, which is sponsoring them.  The excursion included a visit to several places associated with the events described in the New Testament.  The first one in line was a special place – the fortress and monastery Latrun.  “Latrun” comes from French: La toron des Chevaliers – meaning the knights’ hill.  During the 12th century, this fortress of the Crusaders guarded the road from Jaffa to Jerusalem.  One of the specifics of the monastery is the abstention to communicate on secular topics, therefore, the monastery is called the “monastery of silence”.  In biblical times, there was the city of Emmaus located, or later, in the Roman time called – Nikopolis. It is one of the significant places, where Yeshua met two of his disciples, after His resurrection. During the evening of that day, the travelers come to stay overnight and while Yeshua broke the bread and blessed it.  At that very instant, the veil was lifted from their eyes and they recognized Him (Luke, 24:13ff).

The next place they visited was Ein Kerem – the area of the south – western part of Jerusalem.  We can read about this place in the New Testament in relation to two important events:
1.    The birth of John the Baptist – Johanan ha-Matbil in the house of his parents – the righteous Zechariah and Elizabeth (EliSheva).
2.    As well as the meeting of the Mother of Yeshua – Mary (Miriam) with Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist (Luke 1: 39-56).

The last place they saw before leaving for lunch with our friends from “Beit Sar Shalom”, was the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) in the spiritual capital of our state – Yerushalaim (Jerusalem).  Everyone was given the opportunity to pray to the Almighty One and to call to the creator in awe.
Finally, we enjoyed lunch at the Messianic Center of “Beit Sar Shalom”, had fellowship, and talked about the upcoming Purim holiday.
